BERNKASTELS TO CLOSE

Daytona Beach favorite hangout Bernkastels is closing it's doors for good. This is a sad day for those of us who have played music there over the years. This was the first place I ever had a "yard" of beer, served in a three foot tall glass. The summer solstice party to be held tonight 6/20/05. The feature act is an old band of friends called Cruel Shoes, featuring Ron Perry, Neil Dixon, and Richard Smith. Sadly, although I was invited, I will not be able to attend. So if you are there, drink a round for me! Bernkastels is located on the boardwalk side of the Adams Mark Hotel in daytona Beach.

Twelve String Fever

I have it again. I need a new twelve string guitar. I have been eyeing the Taylor 654ce. Taylor is known for their expertise when it comes to twelve strings. The list price is a bit stiff, but this has become a must have for me! Playing the most simple acoustic music on a twelve string guitar can elevate the song to a new level and inspire the musician. If you don't believ me, go to your local guitar shop and play a simple song like Blackbird by the Beatles. It will have a whole new dimension with all of the complex voicings and tones. Then you will have the fever too!

STORMS

Storms blowing in right now. Blue/black clouds fringed with white, blowing in ominous and low. Wind driven rain. Peals of thunder. Then it's gone in 15 minutes. I do love a summer thunderstorm......
